An Honest Conversation About Anxiety: Confidence, Boundaries + People Pleasing with Girls w/ Anxiety

Episode Summary

INTERVIEW: Paige sits down with Heike Leming, co-host of Girls w/ Anxiety, to discuss the impact anxiety, setting boundaries, and saying “no” has on their lives.

Episode Notes

Girls w/ Anxiety (GWA) is a podcast about anxiety and mental health where laughter and light-heartedness is emphasized. It is co-hosted by Heike and Neg to share their stories and experiences with anxiety so people can feel less alone. They are building a community of friendship, encouragement, and care. They are here to be a friend and provide support for those going through similar things.

In this episode, Heike and Paige discuss all things anxiety: what anxiety looks like for them, the impact it has on their lives, and how they fight it. They also open up about the challenges of being a people pleaser and the importance of setting boundaries in order to give themselves the care they deserve.

Heike wants listeners to understand that you are not alone in your struggles and you must give yourself some grace and compassion. She reminds us that you are not weak for asking for help, quite the opposite, actually.

“I know anxiety is such a lonely and isolating feeling, but you're not alone. That when you're feeling overwhelmed, and anxious, and your thoughts start to spiral, to be gentle with yourself to have compassion. Of course, this is easier said than done, but if you can remember to step back, remove yourself from those thoughts and see that they are just thoughts, you can take back a bit of control. That if you're able to go to therapy and receive the tools to help navigate your anxiety it can be the biggest blessing. And that asking for help doesn't mean you're weak, it means you're so strong for putting yourself first”.
