Battling Heteronormativity + Practicing Self Acceptance with Molly Frisch

Episode Summary

INTERVIEW: Paige sits down with Molly Frisch to talk about self-love, acceptance, and navigating sexuality in a world where heterosexual is the default.

Episode Notes

Heteronormativity is the belief that heterosexuality is the preferred or normal mode of sexual orientation. For queer individuals, this creates a constant battle of homophobia, a non-stop coming out process to new people, having to correct others, or fear of rejection. Molly discusses her experiences with these struggles as a bisexual/pansexual individual and sheds light on the things people can do to be a good ally.

Being an ally is as simple as doing “little actionable things”. This could mean talking to a friend who is making off-handed comments, using correct pronouns, changing “boyfriend/girlfriend” to “partner”, and much more. Molly says---You can do little actionable things to advocate without going to every single protest, without doing every single thing all the time… just do one thing at a time.

Molly tackles life head-on. She is creative, raw, real, and loves to make connections with everyone she meets. Her story encourages being in control of your own life, giving yourself permission to feel all of the emotions, and being your authentic self, because really, “who the hell cares!?”
